Reminder: Federal youth representation organized from 22.-24.2. Climate Youth Council in Parliament

From February 22nd to 24th, Parliament will be dedicated to youth and climate policy. Young people discuss their climate concerns with politicians from all parties.

Vienna (OTS) Young people are more affected by the climate crisis than any other generation and have a right to politicians taking their concerns more into account. That is why the Federal Youth Representation (BJV) in partnership with the Climate and Energy Fund is organizing the Climate Youth Council, which takes place in the reopened parliament at the invitation of the President of the National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka, and the Chairman of the Environment Committee, Lukas Hammer.

At the second Climate Youth Council from February 22 to 24, 2023, around 80 young people from all over Austria will exchange views on climate policy issues and hold discussions with MPs from all parties represented in Parliament.

“Young people feel that politicians don’t listen enough when it comes to climate-related decisions. That is why we are pleased to give young people the opportunity to bring their concerns directly to politicians at the Climate Youth Council,” emphasizes BJV Chairwoman Sabrina Prochaska.

Climate award and discussion with politicians

The Climate Youth Council kicks off with the presentation of the Climate Action Awards, which honor projects by young people. On the second day, the young participants deal in depth with different aspects of climate. On the third day of the event, discussions will take place with representatives of all parliamentary parties. Secretary of State for Youth Claudia Plakolm is also a guest at the final presentation of the results.
