Dakar, May 2, 2024 (APS) – The president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Augustin Senghor, deplored the loss of “a truthful man in the service of his community and his country”, following the death , Wednesday, from wrestling promoter Gaston Mbengue.

“Alongside his family, the world of wrestling and many other sectors where his charisma was remarkable, Senegalese Football mourns its Dean Salif Mbengue known as Gaston. A good man, a truthful man serving his community and his country,” he reacted.

He presented his condolences to “his entire family”, praying that “the Almighty reserves him the best welcome in his Paradise”.

Real name Salif Mbengue, Gaston Mbengue was one of the biggest promoters of strike wrestling in recent decades in Senegal. We owe him some of the biggest posters in the discipline, and he is one of the promoters who have literally exploded the salaries of wrestlers in recent years.

Born in Louga, Gaston Mbengue was also a football lover. His commitment to this discipline led to him being elected president of the Ndiambour Sports and Cultural Association (Louga, north) in 2017, before resigning from this position the following season.
