Remembering Tony Bennett: A Tribute to the Legendary Jazz Musician and Crooner

Tony Bennett’s son, D’Andrea Bennett, aka Danny, paid a tender tribute to his late father.

The eldest son and former manager of the legendary jazz musician and crooner, remembers the “incredible journey” he had with his father. “Tony, my father, imbued the essence of the American dream,” he told People magazine. He taught us all that remarkable opportunities will unfold and that anything is possible when you stay true to your passion, believe in yourself and dedicate your life to quality.”

“He was an artist, he was full of humanity and an inspiration to all who knew his elegance and grace,” added the 69-year-old. He and I have had an incredible journey together as father and son, and I’m just proud and humbled to be a small part of what he leaves behind.”

Danny Bennett worked as his father’s manager from 1979 until the crooner’s retirement in 2021. He is also credited with helping revive his father’s career following a series of drug addiction issues and poor financial choices in the late 70s.

The music icon died at the age of 96 on July 21 in New York, following a years-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The “Rags to Riches” singer had his eldest, as well as his son Dae, 68, with his first wife Patricia Beech. Tony Bennett also has two daughters, Antonia, 49, and Joanna, 53, with his second wife, Sandra Grant Bennett.
