Former Montreal Alouettes running back Dahrran Diedrick, two-time Gray Cup champion with the team in 2009 and 2010, has died at just 44 years old.
The Alouettes organization released a press release to pay tribute to the man who died of a rare form of cancer. The Alouettes are obviously saddened by the departure of Diedrick, who wore the colors of the Montreal club from 2006 to 2013, then also in 2014 following a short stint with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

“I won two championships with Dahrran and he was a very important part of our team,” said former quarterback Anthony Calvillo, now the Alouettes’ offensive coordinator, who played eight seasons with Diedrick. He was always in a good mood and got along with everyone in our locker room. He leaves us much too young, I send my best thoughts to his loved ones.
Before playing for the Alouettes, Diedrick lifted the first of his Gray Cups during his 2005 rookie season with the Eskimos in Edmonton.
