Galius Kličius was born in 1950. May 10 in Vilnius.
In 1973, he graduated from the Lithuanian Art Institute, worked as an artist at Vilnius University’s Courtyard Theater, set designer at the Youth Theater and at the Lithuanian Film Studio.
The artist created scenographies for performances in Šiauliai, Panevėžys, the Lithuanian National Drama, Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theater, television and cinema. He has been creating paintings since 1993.
He worked with the most famous Lithuanian film directors and created scenographies for films such as Algimantas Puipa’s “Eternal Light“, 1987, “Procesas” 1994, “The Forest of the Gods”, 2005, “The Conjuration of Sin”, 2007, Raimundo Banioni’s “My Little Wife”, 1984, “Sixteen Years”, 1987, Gytis Lukša’s “Summer Ends in Autumn”, 1981, “Yesterday and Forever”, etc.
In 2011, G. Kličius was awarded the “Silver Crane”, in 2012 – the Culture and Art Prize of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė expressed her condolences on the death of G. Kličius.
“Without the scenography master’s meticulousness and detailed eye, cult Lithuanian films and performances would look completely different and would lose their essential aesthetic charm and depth.
Works created by Galias Kličius, working with various directors, came to life and revealed what is most sensitive and important. The whole cultural world of Lithuania will really miss Galiaus Kličius’ perceptive touch”, says the Prime Minister’s condolence
