A commemoration ceremony was organized on Saturday in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt in Türkiye.
TRNC Chairman Ersin Tatar and Türkiye Ambassador to Nicosia Metin Feyzioglu, as well as many state officials and citizens were present at the ceremony.
Tatar said that the coup attempt organized by the terrorist organization FETO, and supported by foreign powers, 7 years ago, to divide and disintegrate the Republic of Türkiye by violating democracy and the will of the people, is a dark stain in history.
“July 15, 2016 showed us how important the existence of a strong and powerful Türkiye is for us,” he said, adding that the developments were followed with concern by the Turkish people of Cyprus from North.
On the other hand, Metin Feyzioglu pointed out that the struggle of the Turkish people 7 years ago today is one of the most important epics in history.
“Women, men, young or old, the Turkish people have protected their will, their future and their country at all costs,” he also added.
