In statements to FM Rock and Pop, Vitalini explained that in Bahía Blanca the rumor began to spread very early this Tuesday morning, and Iorio’s partner immediately confirmed the news.

According to him, the musician “started to feel bad at home, with severe pain in his chest.” “He went to bed,” Vitalini added, “and they called the ambulance. He died on the way.” “Everything is very surprising, he was fine, he only felt that pain in his chest, it’s crazy, very sad news,” added the lawyer. “It was unknown if he had had any previous problems, the lady told me no,” he said.

The police report details: “A call was received to the emergency telephone number from the local medical room, requesting police personnel in the field where Ricardo Iorio resides in the rural area of Coronel Suárez, 80 kilometers from it, reporting that he had died. Reason for which immediate notice is given to jurisdictional personnel as jurisdiction corresponds.”

Iorio’s death caused deep sadness in the field of music, where he was a much loved character. Icon of Argentine heavy metal, he was the founder of the legendary bands V8 and Hermética and in 1995 he formed the group Almafuerte, of which he was a part until 2017. There the renowned artist announced his dissolution to fully dedicate himself to his solo career.

From that moment on he chose to spend most of his time in Sierra de la Ventana, where he lived with his wife Fernanda García and their daughters.

Iorio and a stellar career

Iorio began his musical career as bassist for V8, a group he founded with Ricardo Chofa Moreno. The band had some member changes, until it broke up in 1987. The influence of V8 was so great that its breakup led to the creation of many other bands that left their mark on Argentine music.

After this separation, Iorio formed Hermética and later Almafuerte. But he didn’t stop there, Gustavo Rowek, together with Walter Giardino, formed Rata Blanca; Osvaldo Civile did the same with Horcas; and while Alberto Zamarbide, Miguel Roldán and Adrián Cenci formed Logos.

As for Iorio, with Hermética he became the main musical composer and exclusive composer of the lyrics, in addition to singing occasionally.

When Hermética broke up in 1994, he formed Almafuerte, where he established himself as a regular singer. She was her project until 2017 when she decided to pursue her solo career.

Iorio, heavy and controversies

Iorio’s career was not without controversy. It is known that the artist considered himself a nationalist and anti-communist. In fact, in 2017 he made the news for a long meeting that he had with Alejandro Biodini, an ultranationalist politician accused of being a neo-Nazi.

Furthermore, he was highly criticized for his statements regarding the last military dictatorship, where he assured that there were “a handful of compensated people” that earned him the repudiation of human rights organizations and different personalities.

In this same line of controversial statements, in March 2000, interviewed by Rolling Stone, he said that Jews cannot sing the Argentine anthem and in recent years he said he was fervent, anti-Kirchnerist and flat earther.

Going to the judicial level, in 2018 he was arrested accused of threatening a police officer and his son with a firearm. Shortly following, he was released and the cases went to trial under the heading of “threats qualified by the display of the weapon.”

Ricardo Iorio: his best phrases in interviews

“What poisons is not the cigarette but not doing what you like and enjoy.” “River won, Boca won, what did they give you?” A house?…then let’s stop messing around! Fighting for your people is not going to shout “son of a bitch” at a referee on a stand. Nor is it cutting off a route preventing others from going to work. “Fighting for the country is doing what you really feel.” “I’m talking regarding the poor heavy, not the poor tetamanti, the dancer. “I don’t care regarding people, but regarding people.” “Stupid people with weak brains have to go see a magazine to be told who is good and who is bad. They are poor bastards.” “Being an Argentine metalhead is walking around in black and expecting the police to stop you every time thinking that you are the one who robbed the old man and they know it’s not you because you don’t have a gun.” “I’m someone.” who wanted to be a rocker and was…Not because they sent him to school. It’s a package totally separate from Fito Páez and Fabiana Cantilo and all that mess.” Not for us… mule, mule, cat… agile, if they don’t even know how to speak, brutes. “Go study.”

“He is very connected, very smart”

The producer, musician and guitarist of Los Pericos, Juanchi Baleirón, said this Monday night that he had spoken with Iorio and that he found him “very well, connected and very energetic.” Thus he made it known to his followers on Twitter, where he assured that they talked for regarding 25 minutes. That message went viral this Tuesday when the news became known.

“Think that we have known each other since 1982… and we have even played together. Many anecdotes and memories of incredible and unique situations. We’ll see you next month. Thank you all for the good vibes,” Baleirón had said.

Once the news was known, this Tuesday, he expressed his anxiety: “I can’t believe it… we were chatting every so often, it was full of tour projects… in November I was going to record the new album, I can’t believe it…”.
