During the early hours of Thursday the death of the 2018 national folk music award was announcedPedro Messone, at the age of 88, at the El Salvador de Providencia hospital.
The information was initially confirmed by the teacher Horacio Saavedra on his Instagram account, where made a publication in tribute to Messone and reporting his death.
“Rest in Peace in the arms of the Lord, Pedro Messone, Glory of our music”he wrote in the Saavedra publication, just an hour following he assured that he was praying for the musician.
Due to the late hours of the night when the news broke, many artists and entertainment faces woke up to find out regarding the departure of the National Music Awarddedicating heartfelt words to his departure.
“It is with deep regret that we bid farewell today to Pedro Messone, a legend of Chilean folk music”wrote, for example, Dr. Sebastián Ugarte on his social networks.
“Her unmistakable voice and her passion for our roots left an indelible mark on the hearts of all music lovers. Rest in peace, master,” he added.
Likewise, Rodrigo Osorio, known as “Don Rorro”, from the Chilean band Sinergia also dedicated words to Messone, asserting that although “Pedro Messone has physically left us”, “Her extraordinary voice and talent are immortal”.
“I listen to him and immediately travel back to my childhood watching him sing ‘La Tejedora’ by Sandra Ramirez at the Festival de Viña. Magical and dazzling forever”closed the singer, also sharing the presentation of the outstanding artist at the Viña del Mar Festival.
Alberto Plaza also added his condolences, lamenting the departure of Messones. “A great one has left. Thank you for so much, dear Pedro Messone”wrote.
The journalist Carlos Tejos was the one who elaborated a little more in his farewell, dedicating an emotional text to the voice of El Corralero.
“It has already dawned in Eternity. Pedro Messone, a gentleman of Chilean folklore, has died at the age of 83, who since the 60s it has given a new air to our atavistic sounds and our plethoric stories of daily identitya kind of musical criollismo, from its so memorable lyrics”, he began writing.
In that, he sent “my condolences to family, friends and the family of Chilean musicians. With admiration and gratitude for his contribution to our culture”.
