Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s famous writer, cultural activist, journalist and former government official Muhammad Alwan has passed away. He was 73 years old. Born in 1950 in Abaha. In 1974, he graduated from the College of Arts, King Saud University, with a degree in Arabic literature. He was known as a novelist and story writer. Has published several books and collections of short stories. For many years he was in charge of the cultural pages of ‘Alyamama’ magazine and ‘Alriyad’ newspaper.

Regularly participated in literary clubs, cultural organizations and story evenings. Azir is a founding member of the Foundation for Press and Publishing. He started his career in the Saudi Ministry of Information. He gradually rose to the rank of Assistant Under Secretary for Internal Affairs. Many people in the literary and cultural fields have mourned his death.

In a condolence message, Minister of Information and Communications Salman Al-Dosari said that writer Muhammad Ali Alwan left behind an impressive legacy of high morality and numerous literary works. It is a great loss to the media and the cultural community. We express our deepest condolences to his family and friends,” the minister said.

Expatriate youth who went to country for treatment died

Muscat: Expatriate youth who went home for treatment died. Abdulla (35), son of late Kunyil Kunjhammed, who had gone home a year ago for kidney-related treatment, died in Eramala, Kozhikode.

He was a coffee shop employee in Mabela. On 11th of last month, kidney transplant surgery was done at Ernakulam hospital. He died in the hospital yesterday. Mother: Maryam, Wife: Jasmina Children: Azra Mehrish, Aisin Abdullah.
