(CNN) — Matthew Perry’s ex-fiancee paid tribute to the late actor, remembering a man who had a “profound impact” on her life.
Molly Hurwitz, who was in a relationship with Perry from 2018 to 2021, posted a tribute to the “Friends” star on Monday on Instagram.
“He would love for the world to talk regarding how talented he was,” he began his post. “And he really was very talented,” she continued.
Hurwitz, a literary director to whom Perry proposed in November 2020, wrote regarding watching “Friends” with him ahead of the cast’s 2021 reunion special.
According to Hurwitz, Perry’s response to his past performances as Chandler Bing on the show was “Damn, I was so good!!!…See what I did there?”
“We rewind and study scenes,” he wrote. ”Our respect and appreciation for humor is something that connects us. Being with him as I rediscovered the brilliance of him was magical.”
She also addressed the difficulties in their time together, writing: “But obviously I also knew that man in a very different way.”
“Although I loved him more deeply than I might understand, it was complicated and caused pain like I had never felt before,” Hurwitz wrote. “No one in my adult life has had a more profound impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry. “I feel enormous gratitude for that, for everything I learned from our relationship.”
He referenced Al-Anon, which provides support to loved ones of those suffering from addiction. Perry was open regarding his struggle with substance abuse and many praised him for how he tried to help others with the disease of addiction.
“Matty, I’m relieved you’re at peace,” he ended his post. “Sincerely, Moll-o-Rama(…fication).”
Perry and Hurwitz ended their engagement in June 2021.
“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,” Perry said in a statement at the time. “I wish Molly the best.”
Perry’s cause of death is under investigation by the Los Angeles medical examiner.
