American actor Mark Margolis has died at the age of 83, his son announced, quoted by the American media The Hollywood Reporter. His portrayal of drug lord Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad earned him an Emmy Award nomination in 2012, but his career is far from being limited to the small screen. “He was someone unique” reacted his manager, Robert Kolker, in a press release. “We don’t make people like him anymore (…) I’m lucky to have known him.” “He burst the screen!”tweeted actor Bob Odenkirk, star of Better Call Saul. “Mark made me laugh with those jokes and remarks and I can only hope I got half his energy and focus when I heard the word ‘Action'”.

Born in 1939 in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, east coast of the United States), he started his career in the theater, before shooting for cinema and television. In 1983, in Scarface, by Brian De Palma, he interprets the role of Alberto, the bodyguard of drug trafficker Alejandro Sosa. He then toured several times with director Darren Aronofsky, in Pihis first feature film, but also in Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, The Fountain, The Wrestler or Noah. His CV thus includes more than 50 roles in the cinema.

On television, he is known for his role in Vince Gilligan’s series Breaking Bad et Better Call Saulbut it also appeared in Oz, American Horror Story, The Affair, Californication or Gotham.
