John Gosling, who was the Kinks’ keyboardist during their Seventies boom, has died aged 75.
The band announced Gosling’s death in a statement on Friday: We are deeply saddened by the news of John Gosling’s passing. We send our condolences to John’s wife and family. No cause of death has been released.
The Kinks’ surviving founding members (brothers Ray and Dave Davies and drummer Mick Avory) have all paid tribute to Gosling, who played keyboards and piano with the band. Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One (1970) to Misfits (1978), a period of 10 studio albums.

As a member of The Kinks, Gosling participated in songs like ” Lola », « Celluloid Heroes », « Strangers » et « Apeman and was featured on the band’s classic album, Muswell Hillbilliesin 1971, in particular on titles like “ Oklahoma USA » et « Acute Schizophrenia Paranoia Blues ».
Gosling left the band in 1978 and was replaced briefly by Gordon Edwards, then by Ian Gibbons, who remained with the Kinks until their final split in 1997.
Gosling is also among the ex-members of the band inducted into Rock Hall who participated in Kast Off Kinks, a group made up of former members of the band.
