Born in London, Jane Birkin embraced a career as an actress out of adolescence. His meeting with Serge Gainsbourg on the set of Pierre Grimblat’s film Slogan in 1969 marked the beginning of his love affair with the singer and with France.

During the decade that followed, Serge Gainsbourg wrote some of the most emblematic titles of French song for her and Jane Birkin gave birth to their daughter Charlotte.

Serge Gainsbourg continued to write songs for her following their separation in 1980, until her death in 1991. Since then, Jane Birkin has pursued her career as an actress and singer, and has established herself as a national icon.

Health problems in recent years

Jane Birkin had been forced to cancel several concerts in 2021 following being victim of a mild form of cerebrovascular accident. She canceled shows once more last March following breaking her shoulder blade. His stage return, scheduled for May, had once once more been postponed.
