The presenter of “Blue Lights” Galina Zimenkova has died. URA.RU has collected information regarding one of the most interesting announcers on Soviet television.

Biography

Galina Mikhailovna Zimenkova was born on November 25, 1941 in the city of Kazan. In 1963, she graduated with honors from the Kazan Theater School with a degree in Theater and Film Actress. At this time she worked as an announcer for Kazan radio. In 1973 she graduated with honors from the directing department of the Leningrad State Institute of Culture named following Nadezhda Krupskaya.

Career

From 1963 to 1969, she was the announcer of information programs on Kazan television, and worked as a host of concerts at city venues. Later, until 1990, she worked in the hotel of announcers of Central Television and All-Union Radio. She was the host of the programs “Time”, “Meetings near Moscow”, “Let there always be sunshine”. At the same time, she took part in dubbing films; viewers and listeners recognized her by her memorable voice. From 1990 to 1996, Galina Zimenkova became an editor-consultant in the letters department of the first Ostankino channel, and then ORT.

Galina Mikhailovna managed to work abroad, so in Japan she taught Russian, and earlier in Moscow she taught speech techniques and camera skills to aspiring journalists. In addition to her work as an announcer, TV viewers remembered Galina Zimenkova for her participation in the festive “Blue Lights”. She is an Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Awarded a medal for the 850th anniversary of Moscow.

During the August 1991 putsch, Zimenkova, on the air of the Novosti program, read out a fragment of the decree of USSR Vice-President Gennady Yanaev “On the introduction of a state of emergency and the formation of the State Emergency Committee in the USSR.” She also worked at the 1980 Moscow Olympics and broadcast the closing ceremony of the competition in 100 countries around the world.

Director Vladimir Artykov told in his memoirs how calm and friendly Galina Zimenkova was with fans. During one of the lunches at the restaurant of the Sport Hotel, Galina Zimenkova, together with film actress Tamara Loginova, took a photo with a girl and a guy who was leaving for the conflict in Afghanistan the next day.

Hard luck

Channel One presenter Dmitry Borisov noted that Galina Zimenkova had problems with her son. She tried for a long time to cure him of addiction, but might not. After his death, she was left alone.

According to him, recently she was looked following by close friends who supported her morally. She died following a long illness in one of the rehabilitation centers. Borisov noted that farewell to Zimenkova will take place on January 2 at 11:00 in the Temple on Festivalnaya Street, 6с1 in Moscow.
