Swedish runner Emilia Brangefelt committed suicide at the age of 21, according to the website of the Swedish Athletics Federation.
Previously, the athlete published a post on social networks, where she spoke regarding problems with her physical and psychological condition.
“In recent months, Emilia has felt very bad, both physically and mentally. She had good support from those closest to her, but on November 13 she committed suicide, the Swedish Athletics Federation said in a statement.
Brangefelt won a bronze medal in the 40 km trail running event at the 2022 World Championships in Thailand.
