The launch of TV Azteca as a television network was in 1993 and among its first original content that connected with the audience was Caritele, the weekend children’s morning bar program hosted by Adriana de Castro, which more than competed with Televisa.
It was such a success from the beginning that it went from being broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays to all week. The connection with the children and youth audience had a lot to do with the charisma of its presenter, the character Carisaurio, access to the public to be in the forum, the Nintendomanía capsules and the anime-style cartoon programming.
The children of the 90’s who did not connect with Chabelo, nor with the cartoons that Televisa broadcast at that time like Heidi y Mazinger Z, that they were seventies, They turned to TV Azteca’s proposal with options such as Sailor Moon y Knights of the Zodiacthe most current animated series in terms of visuals.
Added to this was the good reception he received. Carisaur, a simple but touching bottarga of a green dinosaur that caused sympathy for the shirts and t-shirts he wore. The synergy with Adriana del Castro was beneficial for entertainment because they made the audience happy, mainly those who attended the live program as guests.
But being a program consolidated in 1998, Caritele He disappeared suddenly. It was a hard blow for the children who grew up with that content because no explanations were given and they also stopped seeing their favorite host.
Months later, in 1999, the morning show was launched With woman’s seal with Tere Bermea, Marta de la Lama, Lorena Tassinari and Adriana de Castro as hosts.
It caught a lot of attention to see Adriana in that space because they completely changed her image. From being a girl with long hair in a ponytail and outfits consistent with her youth, she became a woman with short blonde hair in smart clothing. They aged her in a very short time.

Later, the host stopped appearing on Azteca programming, among other things, because she dedicated herself to her family. However, one doubt remained in the air: What happened to Caritele? Countless rumors arose. For example, it was said that evangelical groups asked for its ban for broadcasting cartoons that induced Satanism. Likewise, the myth was created that Adriana rejected a company executive and in return they took the program away from her.
The truth was learned almost 20 years later when a former fan ran into the host at an anime and video game convention and asked her what had happened. Adriana de Castro revealed that the official version she can give is that it was because she got married. “The day I got married, which was February 21, ’98, they took me off the air and I found out regarding it when I was on my honeymoon the next day.”
The company was not pleased that the star figure of its children’s bar got married and decided that it was best to eliminate Caritele. To take advantage of the fact that they had the host in her talent crew, TV Azteca channeled it to With woman’s seal. That transition involved transforming her identity so that she stopped being seen as a youthful figure and began to be appreciated by a target of women over 35 years of age.
To date, every time she is questioned, Adriana usually opens up and says that she would love to see content produced like the one she did with Carisaurio in the 90’s. In his opinion, children require these types of references for their entertainment.
