In 1974, Mao Tse-tung had only two years to live when his doctors discovered a cataract. Bruce Lee is a Chinese hero. It must be remembered because the character is so universal that it seems to belong to everyone. In 2008, the Chinese television channel CCTV fictionalized his life in 50 episodes (The Legend of Bruce Lee), skimping neither on violins nor on patriotic reflexes. The film that the Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee is regarding to devote to him will perhaps be a little different, because the director of Tiger and Dragon believes that being “neither entirely American nor entirely Chinese, Bruce Lee created a bridge between East and West”.
