Angus Cloud, the actor best known for playing drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill on HBO’s Euphoria, has died at the age of 25.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human being today,” Cloud’s family said in a statement quoted by Variety.
Cloud’s publicist, Cait Bailey, said Cloud died Monday at his family’s home in Oakland, California, the city where he was born on July 10, 1998.
HBO, producer of Euphoria, conveyed its condolences through another statement. “He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We express our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

What happened to Angus Cloud?
Although the actor’s official cause of death has not been known, the family made mention in their statement of the interpreter’s battles with his mental health and the recent loss of his father, whom he buried just a week ago.
“As an artist, friend, brother and son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and grappled intensely with this loss. The only consolation we have is knowing that Angus is now reunited with his father, who was his best friend. Angus has spoken openly regarding his battle with mental health and we hope his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight alone in silence.”
Who was Angus Cloud?
Angus Cloud had no acting experience prior to participating in Euphoria. He was walking down a New York street when a talent scout, Eléonore Hendricks, noticed him.
At first, the young man did not like the idea. He suspected it was a scam. But following series creator Sam Levinson and casting director Jennifer Venditti met with him, they managed to convince him to cast on the series for its first two seasons.
Angus Cloud’s performance in Ruphoria was so natural that many suspected the actor was just like his character, something Cloud strongly rejected.
“It bothers me when people say, ‘It must be so easy! You have to go in there and be yourself.’ I say, ‘Why don’t you go and do that?’ It’s not that simple,” Cloud told Variety. “I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. He has nothing to do with me ”.
In several interviews, Cloud has denied accusations that the series glorified and even encouraged drug use among young people.
In his opinion, Euphoria showed the “brutal reality” facing youth in the United States today.
Angus Cloud: a career cut short
Cloud has also been cast in low-budget movies like North Hollywood (2021) and The Line (2023).
Likewise, he also made cameos in video clips of songs such as “Mamiii”, by the Hispanics Becky G and Karol G, or in the posthumous music video “Cigarettes”, by the American rapper Juice WRLD.
Just three months ago it was revealed that he would be part of the cast of the new Universal Pictures thriller directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream VI). A still untitled film whose cast is made up of other emerging figures such as the Mexican Melissa Barrera.
The actor also had other projects pending release such as the film Freaky Tales, directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, in which he starred alongside Ben Mendelsohn, Pedro Pascal and Jay Ellis; or the thriller Your Lucky Day, by Dan Brown.
