Journalist Abdelkrim El Mouss, former director of information for the MAP agency, died on Sunday May 7 in Rabat at the age of 72 following a short illness, Barlamane.com learned.

The life of Abdelkrim El Mouss, “versicolor character, warm, cultured, very endearing”according to journalists who had worked with him during his long career, merges with the history of the state agency that he knew with heart for years.

Born Taroudant in 1951, his education was shared between his hometown and Agadir, before landing in Rabat. In the years of difficult restructuring in the press and swinging towards digital models, he was a privileged interlocutor and a listened voice. The prolific career of this pioneer of journalism in Morocco, known for his remarkable silhouette and his gravelly voice, accompanied for decades the progress of the MAP, where he climbed all the levels. He contributed to the influence of the agency thanks to his long experience in its various mysteries.

He is also the author of some valuable contributions on national and international politics, published in our columns.

Tributes quickly multiplied, among journalists and media executives, who expressed their “sadness”. “Passionate, demanding, he will be missed”, it was said.

It was decorated with Ouissam Al Arch by the late King Hassan II.
