Remco Evenepoel resumes competition in Norway a month after Liège-Bastogne-Liège: “I learned to stay calm”

A month following his masterpiece in the Doyenne, Remco Evenepoel resumes competition.

We left it exactly a month ago at the peak of euphoria, filled with the masterpiece distilled in the Doyenne. This victory, his first in a Monument, had the effect of a real booster on him. The few doubts that still tormented him until then were dissipated at the same time as he placed an attack as decisive as it was explosive in the Redoubt.

“I realize that my success in Liège has relieved me of a weight”he said in the preface to the Tour of Norway, which he will start on Tuesday with the intention of winning. “He took the stress off me. I feel very calm and confident. From the Doyenne, I learned that I should never be afraid to attack if I have the form and the legs. Even from far when the adversity is strong and the wind blows from the front should not constitute a brake on my ambitions.”
