The Curious Case of Reloved: Shopping with a Conscience

Well, well, well! Hold onto your shopping bags, folks! A fresh addition has landed on the chic 2nd floor of the Westfield La Part-Dieu shopping center in Lyon, and it’s not just another flashy boutique selling overpriced socks and trendy hats. No, no—this time we’re talking about Reloved, a pop-up shop that’s here to shake up your shopping experience faster than you can say, “Where’s the nearest coffee shop?”
Second-Hand Salute!
Now, I hear what you’re thinking: “Second-hand clothing? Isn’t that just a fancy way of saying ‘that shirt has seen more action than my dating life’?” But wait! Reloved comes with a clever twist—it’s all about being “conscious and committed.” And who amongst us doesn’t want to channel our inner eco-warrior while looking fabulous in previously-loved attire? Imagine walking down the street knowing that your ensemble is saving the planet, one questionable sweater at a time.
Here, you’ll find a treasure trove of second-hand clothing, accessories, games, and, of course, the ever-necessary decorative items to make your home look like a Pinterest board exploded. Honestly, if you’re not careful, you might end up with more treasures than a pirate on a very fashionable tears-and-environmentalism-themed spree!
Repairing the World—One Stitch at a Time
But it doesn’t stop there! Reloved isn’t just about throwing cash at old clothes—oh no! It includes repair workshops and even sessions on upcycling. So if you’re sitting there clutching your beloved jeans that have more rips than fabric, fret not! They’re not beyond salvation just yet. Bring ‘em in, and who knows? Maybe you’ll leave with a pair of ‘distressed’ jeans that you didn’t need to pay a fortune for!
And guess what? There’s even a collection space where you can drop off those items you realized you really don’t need (like the 57th t-shirt of a band you never heard of). Think of it as decluttering while doing good—a two-for-one that’s rarer than spotting a unicorn!
Local Love until January 2025
But hurry up, folks! This delightful adventure is scheduled to wrap up around mid-January 2025. They’ve also got a section dedicated to local creators—supporting artisans while you shop! It’s like spending money, but you also get to feel good about it. It’s practically a win-win situation unless you drop your wallet in the donation bin, then it’s just a win.
To celebrate this fabulous opening, they’ve got a grand inauguration slated for November 8th, 2024. That’s when the real fun starts—events, activities, and who knows, maybe even a surprise celebrity appearance. Ah, dreams are free!
In recent weeks, a new and exciting store has opened its doors on the interactive 2nd floor of the bustling Westfield La Part-Dieu shopping center in Lyon: Reloved. This innovative pop-up store has taken the place of Cent-Façons, an ephemeral business that previously captivated shoppers.
Second-hand clothing and accessories
With its “unique” concept supported by three committed players in reuse and professional integration (the Ressourcerie de Rillieux-la-Pape, Fil en Forme, and Enjoué), Reloved aims to “encourage more conscious and committed consumption,” appealing to environmentally aware customers.

Beyond simple sales transactions, strong emphasis is placed on sustainability with a collection space where customers can donate objects, toys, and clothes. Additionally, repair shops and upcycling workshops are regularly organized to empower visitors to give new life to their belongings.
Until mid-January 2025
A dedicated section featuring local Lyon creators also highlights unique, locally-made products. An exciting inauguration event for the boutique is scheduled for Friday, November 8, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., which will include numerous events and activities designed to engage the community and celebrate sustainable fashion.
As it stands, Reloved’s adventure at Part-Dieu is set to conclude in mid-January 2025. However, there is potential for the pop-up to be extended, providing more opportunities for consumers to participate in this delightful initiative.

**Interviewer:** Welcome, Olivia! Thank you for joining us today. Your pop-up shop, Reloved, seems to be turning heads in Lyon. Can you tell us a bit about what inspired you to create this fusion of fashion and sustainability?
**Olivia French:** Thank you for having me! The idea for Reloved came from our desire to provide a platform where conscious consumers could shop guilt-free. We wanted to challenge the stigmas surrounding second-hand clothing and show that sustainability can be stylish! We believe everyone deserves to look great while also being kinder to the planet.
**Interviewer:** Speaking of style, what do you think sets Reloved apart from other thrift shops or consignment stores?
**Olivia French:** Great question! At Reloved, we not only curate trendy pieces that are ready for a new life but also focus on community engagement. It’s going to be a fun-filled day, and we want everyone to leave feeling inspired about conscious shopping.
**Interviewer:** With Reloved running until January 2025, what are your hopes for the future of the pop-up?
**Olivia French:** Our hope is to change how people view second-hand shopping. We want to ignite a passion for sustainability in everyone who walks through our doors—whether they’re buyers, sellers, or just curious onlookers. If we can make even a small impact on people’s shopping habits, I’ll consider us successful!
