A new extension of the Express Lines on I-95 will partially open in August, opening up the possibility of reducing the huge congestion of vehicles that frequently occurs from Stafford County and Fredericksburg to Northern Virginia and vice versa.
Currently that section is a nightmare for drivers and experts place it as “the worst bottleneck” for vehicular traffic in the metropolitan region of Washington,
The Virginia Department of Transportation announced the extension of a 10-mile stretch from Route 610 south to Route 17 in Stafford County.
Amanda Baxter, senior vice president of Virginia Market & Operations for Transurban North America, said the infrastructure company is offering “faster and safer trips to Stafford and Fredericksburg” with the extension.
“Whether you’re commuting to work or taking a road trip with the family, the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension gives commuters 10 more miles of reliable, stress-free travel, providing 66% more capacity during peak periods,” Baxter assured.
