These exercises are suitable for anyone who has neck tension and is prone to tension headaches. If the headache persists for a longer period of time or radiates into the arms and fingers, please consult a doctor.

Exercise 1:

Sit comfortably on a chair or yoga mat and close your eyes. Bring your attention to your spine, especially the cervical spine area. Tuck your chin in slightly towards your chest and feel the back of your head lift slightly. Keep both your facial features and jaw relaxed, and let go of any tension in your shoulders.

Breathe slowly into your chest and allow the breath to move naturally.

What is yoga therapy?

Yoga therapy uses traditional yoga techniques as a therapeutic tool. It is dedicated to alleviating specific ailments. The exercises are individually adapted to the person concerned. The therapy uses physical and breathing exercises, mental exercises as well as techniques of self-reflection and personal determination of meaning. Despite everything, yoga therapy cannot replace medical treatment, but is seen as a complementary therapy.

Exercise 2:

Now let your head slowly rotate from left to right and completely release the tension in your cervical spine. Inhale, bring your head to one side, exhale roll your head over forward to the other side. Feel the stretch in your neck muscles and breathe into them.

Exercise 3:

Now push the tip of your nose to the left as far as you can. Keep your eyes open and also look to the left as far as your eyes will allow. After one or two breaths, switch sides and repeat this movement a few times.

Keep your features relaxed and stay here for a few quiet moments.

Note: The yoga therapy series does not replace therapy in the actual sense. In urgent cases, contact a specialist or your family doctor.
