System Shock Remake, which was planned to be released in March this year, has been delayed to May 30th.
Publisher Plaion Prime Matter announced the details on the 15th. The publisher tried to put the System Shock remake in the store by March, but it was impossible with our efforts, and explained the reason for the delay by saying, ‘We are only human beings’.
According to the System Shock Remake Kickstarter page, updates will continue even following the release delay, and a game demo is prepared for Steam Next Fest. In addition, fixes for various bugs and performance issues have been announced in the Kickstarter beta test version.
Since development of the game began in June 2016, the System Shock remake has gone through many twists and turns. First of all, in February 2018, the project was almost canceled due to difficulties in game development, but then resumed. At the time, the development team released a demo version with the goal of completing it in 2020, but failed once more to meet the target date due to the influence of Corona 19. After that, the release was repeatedly delayed, and finally, with the announcement of the release in March 2023, the Kickstarter beta test was conducted, and the release seemed to be in front of the nose, but it was postponed once more to May 30th.
Gamer reaction to the release delay was generally negative. In the Kickstarter comments, ‘It’s been postponed once more’, ‘They used the release date to reveal a new release date’, ‘We’re just human beings, that’s not what a team that has spent 7 years talking regarding’, ‘It won’t be the last delay’ ‘ and so on. Even in the Steam update discussion, there are many negative opinions such as ‘I thought I would postpone it when I saw the game’s status in the beta test’ and ‘I was paying attention to this game now’.
System Shock Remake is scheduled to be released on PC on May 30th and will be officially supported in Korean. The console version will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and the schedule will be announced later.
