The debate over age limits is rekindling following the doping problem that emerged from Kamira Wariewa, a female figure skating player who participated in the Beijing Olympics.

Bach, chairman of the IOC (International Olympic Committee), announced on the 18th that he would discuss raising the age limit for participating in the Olympics.

There has been a debate over figure skating for several years raising the age limit for senior sports from the current age of 15, but it is drawing attention once more.

In February, Russian sports media reported that “ISU (International Skating Union) has proposed a gradual increase in the age limit as one of the agenda items for this year’s General Assembly.”

“It is proposed that the 2023/24 season from next fall will be 16 years old and over, and the 2024/25 season will be 17 years old and over.”

The ISU General Assembly is scheduled for June.
