The age structure of China’s science and technology workers has seen a rejuvenation over the past decade, according to a report released on Saturday.

The China Science and Technology Association has released a report on the country’s science and technology human resource development in Changsha, central China’s Hunan Province.

The report shows that scientific and technological talents under the age of 39 accounted for 73.89% of all scientific and technological personnel at the end of 2019, including 9.94% aged 50 and over.

The proportion of female talent has increased rapidly, from around 33% in 2005 to around 40% in 2019, according to the report.

By the end of 2020, China had more than 112.34 million people working in science and technology, the report noted.
