Reisenberg Fall Season Recap: Squad Challenges, Comebacks, and New Additions

Actually, almost everything went like clockwork at Reisenberg in the fall season. Coach Patrick Kasuba relied on a small, well-rehearsed squad. That paid off. The reward: fourth place in the table.

What seemed to be the biggest trump card was also the biggest problem: the squad. Important supports were missing, especially at the end of the first half of the season. Losses of regular players might hardly be compensated for. This was particularly noticeable in the 1:4 defeat in Wr. Neudorf noticeable. This is where the team around Kasuba wants to start, with “new additions” coming primarily from within their own ranks.

“The squad stays together like this, that’s the most important thing. Because of the good ranking, other clubs will of course also become aware of our players,” said Kasuba. With Michael Richter, Marvin Jost and the two long-term injured Sebastian Horvath and Marco Malicsek, four injured players are returning.

Comebackers and newcomers alike

“Malicsek and Horvath are almost like newcomers,” says Kasuba, who will have to do without Alfred Werner and Mert Kol, both of whom were seriously injured during the fall season and will probably no longer be an issue for this season.

“Both need to be replaced. Individual discussions have already been held, but nothing has become concrete yet. Whatever happens, happens,” says Kasuba, keeping quiet regarding possible new external acquisitions.

Benjamin Spanel, however, is likely to be more specific. The 27-year-old is at the top of Kasuba’s wish list. There are increasing signs that there might be an engagement, and Spanel is leaving Mannersdorf immediately.
