The prefect of Sanaga Maritime, Cyrille Yvan Abondo, reassures the population that actions are underway to fight once morest insecurity on National Road No. 3 (RN3) in Cameroon.
Following a series of attacks perpetrated by gangs of criminals, the authorities took vigorous measures to ensure the safety of users.
According to the prefect, a general calm reigns in the department of Sanaga maritime thanks to the cooperation between the administrative authorities, the forces of law enforcement and the population. Recent events, such as the end-of-year celebrations, February 11, March 8 and the senatorial election, took place in calm and serenity.
However, organized attacks on the RN3 disturbed this peace. Bandits targeted trucks, transport buses and individuals by throwing rocks at drivers to immobilize vehicles and rob passengers. Faced with this situation, the authorities have intensified their efforts to put an end to these actions.
To date, ten individuals involved in these attacks have been arrested and the actions will continue. The Minister of Territorial Administration, in collaboration with the governors of the Center and the Littoral, held a crisis meeting in Pouma to discuss the measures to be taken.
Strong actions will be implemented to secure this essential corridor for the flow of people and goods between the autonomous port of Kribi and the autonomous port of Douala. The prefect believes that with the cooperation of municipal and traditional authorities, populations and transport players, they will be able to arrest and bring these bandits to justice.
