Reiko will be back in Mortal Kombat 12.

It’s true that when most of you think of Mortal Kombat you don’t think of the character of Reiko, but for many fans of the series the fighter holds a special place, so much so that NetherRealm Studios consider her as such, or so it seems.

In a Reddit thread, user “r00r”, long known for accurate leaks before Mortal Kombat 11, claims that Reiko will be part of the team selection once more in Mortal Kombat 12, when this one will come out.

Reiko in Mortal Kombat

The history of the fighter dates back to 1997, when he made his debut in the franchise in Mortal Kombat 4, a title that opted for a 3D section far from the classic IP and which was not well received by players, despite its many innovations. From there, Reiko appeared in multiple editions of the series until her demise following Mortal Kombat: Armageddon in 2006.

From what is implied in the same post, Mortal Kombat 12 is scheduled for 2023, and this release window has been repeated a lot in the words of various sources, but there is still no official confirmation of the part of the developers beyond some “slippage” within the studio.
