From elementary school to secondary level 1: Over 1,300 free learning support courses are available to around 13,000 Viennese students. The courses start on October 16th.

Vienna (OTS) This fall there will once more be over 1,300 learning support courses from Vienna adult education centers, VHS learning stations and online courses with free support in mathematics, German and English.

Vice Mayor and City Councilor for Education Christoph Wiederkehr explains why this support is crucial now: “Inflation has also caused the prices for tutoring to skyrocket. For many families, tutoring is simply no longer affordable. Because educational opportunities are the basis for a successful future, we offer up to 13,000 children and young people in Vienna the opportunity to catch up on school material free of charge.”

There are several formats to choose from in order to respond to needs and offer both long- and short-term support. “The foundation for further education is laid during school time. It is particularly important to give children a positive approach to learning. We therefore offer various learning aid formats that take the individual needs of the children into account.”explained Herbert Schweiger, managing director of the Vienna adult education centers.

1,000 VHS learning support courses in math, German, English and 100 online courses

The above 1,000 VHS learning support courses in mathematics, German and English for secondary school students (10 – 14 years old). once a week in Viennese schools take place and last two teaching units. Here, students can further develop their learning techniques and consolidate what they have learned in the long term. If you prefer to study from home, visit one of the 100 online courses. These last one hour each and also promote digital skills.

Learning assistance courses also for 1,500 primary school students

The Learning assistance course offer for elementary schools was opened this semester 150 courses increases and offers up to 1,500 students the chance for free support. The learning content of the subjects is shown here German, mathematics and German start (for children who are new to learning German) repeated in a playful way. The courses last 1.5 hours each and take place at various locations.

In order to provide the students with the best possible support, learning assistance courses take place in small groups of a maximum of 10 participants. They are designed for secondary level 1 and primary school across all school levels.

Open offer: Uncomplicated help in the followingnoon at the 17 VHS learning stations

They offer uncomplicated support for questions regarding the learning material, homework or school work preparation VHS learning stations. You can find it directly 17 VHS locations instead and are a open offer for anyone who needs quick help or has questions in several subjects. Students can switch between different subjects on the same day and stay until their questions are answered. Here is no registration necessary. The VHS learning stations take place from Monday to Thursday between 2.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. (except on school-free days and during the holidays).
