The fine rain which was invited for a few minutes on the pavement of Cadurci, this Saturday, did not dampen the enthusiasm of the women who came to register en masse on the forecourt of the town hall of Cahors, at the Cadurcienne once morest cancer of the breast. Departure Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Fine drops also beaded on the cheeks of Nathalie who was mourning the recent death of her daughter from breast cancer. She testifies, strong and determined to continue the fight.

Twenty years already. Twenty years of an admirable commitment, in Cahors, once morest breast cancer, thanks to a 100% female race and walk of 6 kilometers. Mireille Crouzet is behind this initiative. A challenge. A successful bet. The fight once morest breast cancer, meanwhile, is not yet won. So we continue.

Sunday morning, at 10 a.m., at the start on the Fénelon alleys, an XXL-sized surprise is reserved for participants in this event dedicated to a health and solidarity act. Breast cancer: a disease that Nathalie, 68, saw up close and which still earned her, she admits, “great moral suffering” and inconsolable pain.

This Saturday, women flocked to the registration table at the Cadurcienne, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

“Sunday, I will walk for my daughter”

“My daughter, Sandrine, died of breast cancer. She was only 34 years old. Half my age. I stress the importance of screening. Sandrine simply felt pain in her chest and put it down to certain anxieties or stress at work. After a simple palpation where nothing had been detected, she underwent more complete examinations and the disease was clearly diagnosed. It was already too late. This dreaded cancer can be very sneaky. On Sunday, I’m going to walk for my daughter” underlines Nathalie with sobs in her voice, but with clenched fists “because we have to move forward for other women and overcome this terrible evil definitively” she adds.

3,600 participants: record to beat

Of course you can’t beat cancer in a race, but it is by organizing events like this that research can have additional resources in order to prevent breast cancer from being the winner over every woman that he attacks. Record to beat: 3,600 participants. This is the participation recorded in 2019.

“At 10:30 a.m. this Saturday morning, we already had more than 2,500 registrations. It is still possible to register this Sunday morning before 9:30 a.m. at the Valentré foyer,” concludes Gilles Cluzet, president of the Extrapédestres association.

Each woman leaves with a T-shirt, a product for the well-being of their skin from Phyt’s laboratories and the fierce desire stuck in the heart and body to give even more impetus to research.

Phil Wake and Jean-Yves Besnard will play folk songs from their new album: Out of time.
