Regionalliga West: Strong comeback from Kuchl – promoted team gets another point after being 2-0 down

On Friday there was no winner in the Salzburg derby between Kuchl and Bischofshofen.

Thanks to goals from John Sesay (5th) and Konstantin Gertig (44th), Bischofshofen in Kuchl was already leading 2-0 after 45 minutes and looked like the sure winner. “They played really well and deservedly led,” admits Kuchl coach Thomas Hofer, whose team was only able to pose a threat once in the first half.

Kuchl is getting stronger

In the second 45 minutes, the Pongauers let up more and more and so Kuchl came into the game better. When Christian Kaindl caught BSK goalie Mirel Kahrimanovic on the wrong foot in the 62nd minute and was able to make it 1:2, the duel finally ended. “We then threw everything forward and brought in Michael Perlak, who is not yet fully fit,” says Hofer.

And the substitution of Perlak paid off. The ex-professional ideally put Marco Hödl in the spotlight in the 84th minute. The striker didn’t miss the chance and scored the equalizer. And the newcomer almost turned the derby around completely: Hödl was denied by Kahrimanovic in stoppage time. “I can live with the draw very well. Bischofshofen has a very strong team, so as a promoted team you have to score points first,” says Hofer, whose team is in eighth place with twelve points. Bischofshofen is fifth with 16 points.
