Great action by regional league football team SPG Wallern/St. Marienkirchen: While in many places in Austria football matches are still out of the question due to the aftermath of the floods, tomorrow’s derby between Trattnachtaler and Vorwärts Steyr (7 p.m.) will take place under special circumstances. President Manfred Zauner’s club will donate all the proceeds from today’s local duel to flood relief efforts – the Wallern players will also contribute a sum.
“As a football club, we also have a responsibility to society; we want to do something good,” says Wallern sports director Albert Huspek, who expects around 700 visitors.
The regional league team Donau Linz has also come up with something special and is inviting all Linz fire brigades to tomorrow’s home game against Hörsching.
New edition in OÖ-Liga
Last Friday, the match in the Upper Austrian League between Micheldorf and St. Martin/M. was literally a washout. At halftime, the match was abandoned due to heavy rainfall with the score at 1:0 for Mühlviertler. The penalty committee of the Upper Austrian Football Association has now decided that the match will be replayed on October 15th (7 p.m.). Bitter: The replay will start at 0:0 again.
