The center-left once again finds an agreement on a name to run for the presidency of the Basilicata Region following Domenico Lacerenza’s step backwards. After the table that defined the perimeter of the coalition, with Pd, M5s, Avs and socialists (without the former third pole of Calenda and Renzi). The agreement is closed on the candidacy of the PD president of the province of Matera, Piero Marrese. At this point, however, he gets back on track Angelo Chiorazzosupported by the Basilicata Casa Comune and some civic lists, which had initially received the approval from the Lucanian dems but not from the M5S and which for this reason had been convinced to take a step back in favor of Lacerenza.

In a statement, Lacerenza wrote: «after careful reflection I want to communicate my renunciation of candidacy for president of the Basilicata Region. It is a decision – he explains – taken with absolute serenity and also in the interests of the political forces that wanted to propose to me”
