The 2022-2023 edition of the regional finals of Secondaire en spectacle du Centre‑du‑Québec was held recently at the Théatre Belcourt in Baie-du-Febvre. More than a hundred young people from sixteen secondary schools in the region took part. In addition to offering great performances, artists from secondary schools in the RCMs of L’Érable and Arthabaska were honoured.
Regional winners
Le boisé high school first took top honors in the regional final in the interpretation-music category thanks to the talent of Layli Evans, Juliette Gagnon and Éliot Couture. The marriage of the singers’ voices as well as the quality of execution on the piano, guitar and drums seduced the jury. They brilliantly presented the song us following us of the Boulay sisters.
The next day, it was the turn of the participants from La Samare high school in Plessisville to take first place in the interpretation-music category. By pleasantly surprising the jury, Justine Roy and Dalyanne Boucher offered a very original and energetic performance of the great rock of captain revolt.
From Le tandem high school, in the partial creation-music category, singer-songwriter Lancelot Gagné won over the members of the jury with the timbre of his voice and the quality of his text. The young rapper also conquered the public thanks to his presence on stage.
These artists will represent the Centre-du-Québec region at the Rendez-vous panquébécois, the provincial component of Secondaire en spectacle, from June 1 to 4 in Laval.
Mention du jury
From La Samare high school, pianist Raphaëlle Gagnon and singer Rosalie Drolet received the Mention du jury prize and a scholarship from the Cégep de Victoriaville jointly with the Cégep de Drummondville for their remarkable rendering of a musical monument in the interpretation of Le blues du businessman by Luc Plamondon.
Camp Chanson Quebecor Prize from Petite-Vallée
Faithful partner of the Secondary en spectacle program, Camp Chanson Quebecor in Petite-Vallée awarded a scholarship worth $700 to a very talented artist: Coralie T. Lavigne from Claretain College. She will be able to participate in this prestigious camp during the summer of 2023. The selection was made among the artists of Secondary en spectacle who participated in the local final of their school and who submitted an application.
Succession scholarship
ACLAM, the organization responsible for the program, wanted to highlight the participation and talent of secondary one and two students by offering participants the opportunity to take part in the Rendez-vous panquébécois as an independent participant. It was Alexandre Henri, a secondary one student at La Samare high school, who won this prize.
