It is an extremely difficult moment faced by the family of this little resident in the city of Nostradamus. In fact, Sya has an atypical rhabdoid teratoid tumor (AT/RT). Very aggressive and recurrent in infants and young children, it is found almost exclusively in the youngest. This extremely rare embryonic tumor is characterized by rapid growth of the brain and spinal cord in particular. The symptoms can be numerous: change in activity level, increase in head size, lack of coordination, loss of balance, vomiting, drowsiness, headaches…
Sya is currently being followed in the pediatric oncology department of La Timone hospital in Marseille. Her grandmother, Catherine Lisiecki, unfortunately notes that the parents of the little one are struggling to bear the costs which they had obviously not foreseen. “Applications for financial and material assistance have been submitted, but the processing times are expected to be long and they need help right awayshe says.
