Acting Regent of Gianyar, I Dewa Tagel Wirasa released athletes from Gianyar Regency who were part of the Bali Province contingent to take part in the 21st National Sports Week (PON) in 2024.
“By saying Om Awighanam Astu Nammo Sidam, athletes and coaches of Gianyar Regency represent Bali Province at the 21st National Sports Week in 2024, I officially release them,” said Tagel as reported by BetweenFriday (23/8).
Gianyar Regency sent 70 athletes and 17 coaches/managers. All athletes will compete in several sports spread across 32 venues in Aceh and North Sumatra.
The release was marked by the symbolic handover of pocket money for athletes and coaches of Rp3.5 million each, in addition to the pocket money received from KONI Bali. The Gianyar Regency Government will also provide additional bonuses to athletes who win medals.
“The amount should be at least the same as the Papua PON, if possible more than that and still adjusted to the regional financial capacity,” said Ida Bagus Putu Suamba, Head of the KONI Gianyar Achievement Development Division.
Preparations for the PON have been carried out optimally, and athletes and coaches have also worked hard to improve their achievements. He hopes to potentially win a champion’s medal. “I am sure that your struggle will produce maximum results,” added Suamba.
“The people of Gianyar and Bali have high hopes for you all. Your achievements will be achievements for Gianyar and Bali,” he added. (Z-6)
