The Social Democratic Trade Unionist Group (FSG) has unanimously chosen its chairman Michael Seemayer as the Upper Austrian trade union top candidate for the next National Council election. The 47-year-old Regauer has been a member of parliament for the SPÖ since 2019. “I would like to thank you for the trust that has been placed in me and would like to continue to be a voice for employees in parliament and to advance trade union issues,” said Seemayer following the meeting of the FSG state executive board.
The Vöcklabruck native completed his apprenticeship as a process control technician and industrial electrician at Lenzing AG. He started his trade union career in 2000 as youth chairman of the FSG and has been its state secretary since 2018. In parliament, Seemayer is the SPÖ’s area spokesman for apprentices and community service. Since 2017 he has also been deputy chairman of SP Regau.
The member of the National Council emphasizes that security in all situations in life is particularly important to him. The effects of inflation on people are currently the most important issue for the trade unionist. “The government has done practically nothing to counteract inflation. That’s exactly why significant wage and salary increases are now necessary so that people in Austria can afford to live once more,” emphasizes the Regau politician.
