SEVERAL candidates for Governor of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) have begun to receive party recommendations. However, several candidates are suspected of not being in line with Prabowo – Gibran’s agenda in running the government for the next five years.

Southeast Sulawesi political observer Dr Rahmat Nadhir assessed that several candidates were not in line with Prabowo-Gibran. In fact, the continuity of development must continue, especially since Southeast Sulawesi is an important region that is the basis of the national mining sector.

“Several political parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition actually supported candidates who were Prabowo-Gibran’s political opponents in the last presidential election,” said Dr. Rahmat.

He added that this situation was quite worrying, considering the importance of consistency between regional and national leaders in ensuring the continuity of development programs.

Currently, the candidates competing in the Southeast Sulawesi Gubernatorial Election include Tina Nur Alam, who has received support from the NasDem Party, Golkar Party, and PKS, with a total of 16 seats in the Southeast Sulawesi DPRD.

Meanwhile, Andi Sumangerukka has received support from PPP and Gerindra Party with a total of 8 seats. Lukman Abunawas, another important figure in this contest, received support from Demokrat Party, PKB, and PDIP, with a total of 13 seats. While Ruksamin received support from PAN and PBB with a total of 7 seats.

Rahmat gave an example, the Golkar Party which supports Tina Nur Alam, a figure who actively supports the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair in the presidential election. A similar condition also occurred with the Gerindra Party which gave support to Andi Sumangerukka, who previously served as the Head of the Regional Winning Team for the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair in Southeast Sulawesi.

Rahmat emphasized that these measures could cause inconsistency between the policies of the central and regional governments in the future.

“Prabowo Subianto as the president-elect certainly has a vision to maintain the continuity of the program for the next five years. Therefore, it is important for the parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition to support regional head candidates who have a vision and mission that are in line,” he explained.

In this context, Rahmat expressed his concerns about the potential disharmony that could arise if the Gerindra DPP continues to support Andi Sumangerukka.

“If the Gerindra DPP supports Andi Sumangerukka, who previously fought for another candidate, this will create disharmony in the implementation of programs in the regions,” said Dr. Rahmat Nadhir.

He added that if Andi Sumangerukka were elected as governor, there were concerns that Prabowo-Gibran’s programs would not be well connected, considering Andi Sumangerukka’s political affiliation with the United Development Party (PPP), which is not in line with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition.

Furthermore, Rahmat Nadhir emphasized the importance for parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition to determine their support for the Southeast Sulawesi Gubernatorial Election. According to him, the decision to support a candidate who is not in line with the Prabowo-Gibran national agenda could harm the consistency of development programs in this province which is very rich in natural resources.

“Support for candidates who are in line with Prabowo-Gibran’s vision will ensure the success of the program in the regions,” he said. (Nov)
