PUBLIC policy observer UPN Veteran Jakarta, Achmad Nur Hidayat, assessed that Bapanas and Bulog are seeking safety from the alleged Rp8.5 trillion rice import markup scandal through the rice food social assistance (bansos) program. This was conveyed by Achmad in response to the claim of Bapanas Head Arief Prasetyo Adi who said that the rice food social assistance was a program that contributed to reducing poverty. Meanwhile, the rice food social assistance will be disbursed once more in August, October, and December 2024.

“If there is an alleged markup of rice imports, it must be investigated thoroughly. Bapanas-Bulog must not take advantage of the situation policy“That is, allowing the proliferation of rent seekers,” he said, Thursday (18/7).

Achmad reminded that the distribution of social assistance is not the responsibility of Bapanas-Bulog led by Arief Prasetyo Adi and Bayu Krisnamurthi. The distribution of social assistance, said Achmad Nur Hidayat, is the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

“That is the Ministry of Social Affairs’ duties and functions. The distribution of social assistance should be returned to the Ministry of Social Affairs,” said Achmad Nur Hidayat.

With such conditions, Achmad Nur Hidayat hopes that in the future there will be improvements in governance both in Bapanas and Bulog. For Achmad, the alleged Bapanas-Bulog Gate 2024 rice import markup scandal is the result of poor governance in the two institutions.

“The poor governance of Bapanas-Bulog allows the emergence of rent-seeking individuals,” concluded Achmad Nur Hidayat.

Previously, the Executive Director of the People’s Democracy Study (SDR) Hari Purwanto when revealing the latest facts from the alleged rice import markup scandal game. SDR has reported the alleged Bapanas-Bulog Gate 2024 rice import markup scandal to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“Based on the data we found, we obtained information that the average price charged (by Bulog) for rice is USD 660/ton cost, insurance, and freight (CIF),” said Hari Purwanto, Sunday, (14/7). (Nov)
