Energy » No immediate measures to support households and SMEs, but aid of 4 billion for Axpo.

The National debated the energy crisis once once more yesterday. All the parties have filed urgent interpellations demanding explanations from the Federal Council. He does not want to take any immediate action. Meanwhile, the Chambers had just accepted the credit of 4 billion francs for the electricity supplier Axpo.

The war in Ukraine has aggravated the energy crisis that was already felt, several speakers recalled. But the Federal Council does not have the will to resolve the crisis for the benefit of consumers and businesses, noted Pierre-André Page (udc, VD).

“Axpo is not alone in being too big to fail, the Swiss population is too”, launched Cédric Wermuth (ps, AG). Politics and the Federal Council must act for the good of the population and businesses, demanded all parties.

“We are aiming for the concrete and not sterile agitation”, replied the Minister of the Economy Guy Parmelin. “We are aware of the challenges posed by rising prices for individuals and businesses. We are not underestimating the situation.”

The Federal Council reacted quickly to the supply problems as early as autumn 2021, underlined Energy Minister Simonetta Sommaruga. “We don’t want to be ready for just any day, but for this winter.” ATS
