Construction work completed by the end of August

St. Polten (OTS) The crossing of the B 17 / L 156 Trumauer Straße in Traiskirchen is being renovated due to the existing road damage. New concrete fields are being produced in the crossing area and two layers of asphalt are being laid in the connection area. In this context, the footpath and protection path as well as the central island on the L 156 and the exit trumpet of the L 156 on the B 17 will be updated to the current state of the art. Traffic routing takes place in six phases, during which traffic is guided through the construction site by means of appropriate floor markings. The regulation is carried out by construction site lights. Due to the construction activities, delays of up to 15 minutes are to be expected in the construction site area.

During the entire construction phase, access to the allotment garden settlement to the west of the B 17 will be closed to motor vehicles. Access and exit via Hirschäckergasse coming from the south is possible and signposted. The existing protection route over the L 156 cannot be maintained during the construction work either. Safe crossing cannot therefore be guaranteed during the construction work. The access and exit to the northern part of the allotment settlement is possible at any time.

The main work started on July 17th and will be completed by the end of August. The setting up of the construction site and various preparatory work had already been carried out the week before. The executing company is the construction company Pittel & Brausewetter. The total construction costs of around 535,000 euros will be borne entirely by the state of Lower Austria.

The state road B 17 no longer met today’s modern traffic requirements in the area of the intersection with the L 156 (Trumauer Straße) due to its age and the existing road surface damage (leaning, cracks, subsidence, etc.). For these reasons, the Lower Austrian road service decided to rehabilitate the crossing area.
