Business Empresarial.- The National Authority for Health and Safety in Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sanipes)entity attached to Ministry of Production (Produce)granted technical sanitary clearance protocols to 45 artisanal boat owners from Sechura (Piura). These health authorizations will allow them to extract and transport harmless and safe products to the consumer, and improve the quality of life of their families.
The delivery of these health documents would benefit approximately 1,844,129 inhabitants (937,959 women and 918,850 men) of the Piura region with healthy and safe products.
In the remainder of 2024, Sanipes plans to provide health facilities to approximately 200 artisanal fishing vessels in Piura, which will influence the formalization process, reduce the gap and improve the quality of life of fishermen.
So far this year, the health authority has delivered 604 technical health authorization protocols nationwide. Of these, 345 correspond to artisanal vessels for the extraction and transportation of fishing products, 156 being from the Piura region, which benefited more than 2,416 families.
In the Piura region there are a total of 3,431 artisanal fishing vessels with sanitary authorization, which is equivalent to 48% of the authorized vessels nationwide.
It is important to mention that, currently, there are 22,000 artisanal fishermen in the Piura region.
Sanipes is committed to continuing to carry out joint work to continue promoting formalization with health authorization. Thus, it will contribute to strengthening the fishing and aquaculture production chain in its extraction and transportation phase of fishing products and bivalve mollusks.
Artisanal fishing vessels with fishing permits total 14,749 nationwide, according to information from the Ministry of Production.
