The blush that rises to the cheeks? Nothing fresher when it comes to a simple touch of blush. But sometimes it’s a little more complicated. If some of us are lucky enough to have naturally rosy cheekbones, for others the redness can be a real handicap. Among the solutions that reduce redness? Food! Our leads for avoid getting red cheeks.

Redness and pimples, a case of rosacea

10% of the world’s population is affected by rosacea, an inflammatory disease that causes facial redness and, sometimes, acne-like pimples. The most susceptible to this disease? Fair-skinned women. This disease, also called rosacea, has several levels.

  • Stade 1 : The redness is not permanent but is triggered when one is exposed to triggering factors such as emotions, alcohol consumption or hot drinks.
  • Stade 2 : The redness is permanent and the small blood vessels are more or less visible.
  • Stade 3 : The appearance of pimples is added to the symptoms of stage 2: it is this stage which corresponds to rosacea
  • Stade 4 : The redness is permanent, the skin swells and may be deformed… This stage generally only concerns men over 50 and is rarely encountered these days.

To deal with these different stages of blushing, there are obviously suitable solutions that range from cosmetics to surgical treatment (for the 4e stadium). But food can also help us. Or at least prevent the symptoms from getting worse.

Food, allergies and red cheeks

In some cases, adapting your diet by taking care to exclude the offending foods can be wise… but it is not always effective. Indeed we can blush cheeks without the food being in question: this is the case when we feel a strong emotion, that we have an allergy… In these different situations, adapting our diet does not will have no impact. Where it can be interesting to review your diet is if you blush while eating. The main culprits? Foods that are too hot, too spicy… which make our cheeks blush!

We also make sure that an allergy is not the cause. When you suffer from an allergy, a skin reaction manifested by facial redness is common when you come into contact with the allergen. And the allergen can just as well be a cosmetic product as a medicine… or even a food! To avoid this type of redness and even more serious consequences on your state of health, we ban without hesitation the foods to which we are allergic and we take care of cross allergies!

What foods should you avoid when you have skin rashes?

As in many situations, a good diet can make the difference when it comes to red cheeks. The foods that we consume can thus act as triggers causing a reddish complexion. If you are prone to it, here are 5 foods to avoid when you are prone to red cheeks:

  • Spices and spicy foods trigger flushsthat is to say, sudden reddening of the face in people with intermittent or permanent redness.
  • peppers promote sudden variations in the caliber of facial vessels. The capsaicin they contain dilates the blood vessels of the mouth, the face reddens in a few seconds and it is guaranteed overheating for regarding thirty minutes.
  • The alcohol acts on our body by dilating the blood vessels.
  • Very hot foods call for an adaptation reaction on the part of our body. The increase in temperature thus causes dilation … favoring the visibility of the vessels on the face.
  • Fat food are high in saturated fat. The wrongs of the latter? They increase inflammation in all vessels of the body, skin included. We therefore limit their consumption, especially those of industrial origin!
