Redmi Note 12s: 108 MP camera and the best value for money in the line? | Analysis / Review

Another cell phone from the Redmi Note 12 line passes through our stands and this time we have the analysis of the 12s model whose main highlight is bringing a 108 MP camera to the affordable intermediate segment. Is this the best cost-benefit of the line? Let’s check.

The Note 12s is more compact than the rest of the line as it comes with a smaller screen, but its rear camera block is more advanced because of the 108 MP sensor. It is a device made of plastic with metallic matte paint. It has a headphone jack and a triple drawer, but lacks 5G connectivity.

The 6.43-inch AMOLED screen comes with a 90Hz panel, which is a little disappointing considering that the cheapest in the lineup has a 120Hz panel. At least the brightness is strong enough for good visibility outside. The sound is stereo and has decent power and quality, which ensures good multimedia experience with movies and games.

Equipping the Note 12s we have the Helio G96, a bit old hardware from MediaTek. At least here we have 8 GB of RAM for a good multitasking experience, which is not always the case in Xiaomi intermediaries. The Chinese cell phone also does well in games, despite not being able to run everything at maximum quality.

The 5,000mAh battery yielded 30 hours of moderate use in our standardized test, and the 33W charger takes just under 1 hour and 20 minutes to recharge. The 108 MP camera takes good pictures and there is efficient night mode. Unfortunately, this feature is not available in ultra-wide which suffers a lot in dark places. The camcorder records at maximum Full HD and suffers to make good footage at night.

Is it worth buying the Redmi Note 12s? It presents a more interesting cost-benefit ratio than the cheapest model in the line, but it has its negative points as you can see in our review at the link below:
