Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G
We started this duel talking regarding the construction of these smartphones. Xiaomi put a plastic body on both, with a glass back, covered with Gorilla Glass protection, to protect once morest scratches and impacts. IP53 resistance is also present here, with resistance to dust and splashing water.
The Note 12 Pro is more compact and lighter than its predecessor, in addition to having a more modern appearance. The design on the back has lost the black background camera block of the Note 11 Pro and now comes with a module in the same color as the cover.

At the front, the option for the notch in the form of a hole in the display remained. The fingerprint reader also remained in place and remains on the side, integrated into the power button. The Chinese still kept the infrared emitter, to use the cell phone as a remote control for her TV.
Only the older model comes with a microSD card slot, via the hybrid drawer. At least, Bluetooth has evolved from version 5.1 to 5.2 in the latest, while Wi-Fi has moved from the fifth to the sixth generation. NFC is present in the pair and supports approximation payments.
We’ve seen good progress in design from one year to the next. Therefore, the newest Redmi starts in front.

Both devices feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. Despite having the same display size, the Note 12 Pro wins in front use, thanks to the smaller edges. Gorilla Glass 5 has been retained from one to the other to ensure greater protection once morest scratches.
As much as there seem to be more similarities than differences, the evolution was not small from the Note 11 Pro to its successor. The panel of the youngest had improvements in brightness and now reproduces more colors, in addition to being compatible with HDR10 + and Dolby Vision technologies, to improve the streaming experience.
The duo’s refresh rate reaches 120 Hz, focusing on providing great fluidity. But the latest Redmi is the only one of the duo to provide dynamic variation, something designed to save more battery.
Again, it’s time for the 2023 cell phone.

Audio is one of the priorities of these cell phones. That’s because both offer a three-speaker stereo system to further enhance the immersive user experience. Not to mention support for Dolby Atmos, which qualifies the way you prefer.
The duo has a great sound power, in addition to delivering a satisfactory balance between bass, mids and treble. The standard headphone jack is also present here, although none of them send an accessory in the box.
Without major differences, we give a tie in this regard.

System
The Note 12 Pro still comes with Android 12 pre-installed, while the Note 11 Pro contains version 11 of the “little robot” natively. Don’t expect very quick updates from them. But as it already has a more recent edition of the software, the new Redmi will have a longer useful life.
The mobile network with 5G support is present in both, to guarantee an always fast connection. MIUI is not an interface with great optimizations for smooth navigation, but the 120 Hz refresh rate seeks to compensate for this on these smartphones.
In terms of features, we have the possibility to reserve part of the storage to expand the RAM memory, but with a greater limit in the 2023 model. Overall, their system offers features such as the Sidebar for app shortcuts, in addition to the various options of customization.
Greater longevity gives the point to the Redmi Note 12 Pro.

Performance
Xiaomi put the Dimensity 1080 on the newest Redmi to replace the Snapdragon 695 present on the old device. Was the switch from Qualcomm to MediaTek a good deal? Our tests indicated no. Both with 6 GB of RAM, the Note 11 Pro was able to hold more apps open in the background and ended the rounds with a 23-second advantage over its successor.
Despite this difference in practice, the benchmarks still show the two chips very close in scores, both on Geekbench and AnTuTu. In games, the duo runs the heaviest games well, even if you have to give up some extra features. At least, the lighter titles manage to exploit the 120 fps supported by them.
So the point goes to 2022 cell.

Battery
Here we have two more Xiaomi phones with a 5,000 mAh battery. But the newer’s screen and system efforts allow for greater autonomy. It reached more than 31 hours of total battery life in our standardized tests, almost three hours above its predecessor.
Going to recharge, the situation changes a little. The Chinese company sends a 67 W plug adapter in their box. But the Note 11 Pro takes 49 minutes to reach 100%, that is, it is faster than the Note 12 Pro’s time of practically 1 hour.
Longer autonomy versus shorter charging time. We give one point for each.

On both sides, we find a triple set of rear cameras. Although the main 50 MP of the newest has a total resolution lower than the 108 MP of the old model, the inclusion of optical stabilization helps to have a little more clarity during the day and less noise at night. In any case, Xiaomi’s software does not fully exploit these sensors as they should.
The other lenses in the set did not change. Their ultrawide has its limitations and suffers in dark places. The macro, on the other hand, suffers from low definition and the absence of autofocus.
Due to the advances in resources for taking photos both day and night, the point is with the newest.

The Note 12 Pro’s camcorder is capable of recording 4K videos at 30 fps. An evolution compared to its predecessor, which is nothing more than Full HD. Overall, the quality on both is pleasing during the day, but at night only the newest Redmi doesn’t suffer so much from noise. This one also has optical stabilization, to handle the shakes better than the Note 11 Pro’s electronics. Both deliver snappy focus and good stereo audio capture.

The duo’s front camera has a resolution of 16 MP and takes good selfies during the day, in addition to having a portrait mode with few errors and without leaving the background blown out. Already in dark places, the Note 12 Pro suffers less from noise than its predecessor. The newest even supports full HD 60 fps head-on shooting. Unlike the old one, which is limited to 30 fps.
