Design and connectivity

realme 10 Pro Plus

Here we find two very different devices in appearance. realme bets on several curves and a painting with a chromatic effect, in addition to the prominent rims to house the cameras. On the other side, Redmi has a block that places the lenses forming a triangle and small circles with a silver effect on the lid.

Both have a structure made of plastic, but Xiaomi preferred to put glass on the back of its cell phone, complete with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. This is also the only one to be resistant to dust and splashes, thanks to the IP53 certification. The 10 Pro Plus responds with its more compact and lighter body.

Redmi Note 12 Pro

We move to the front with a hole-shaped notch centered on these two laptops. Only realme placed the fingerprint reader under the screen. The rival preferred to leave the biometric sensor integrated into the power button, in addition to integrating the infrared emitter, to allow the remote control function for your TV.

Neither of these devices offers a microSD card slot, which means there is no storage expansion in the duo. At least sixth-generation Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC technology are guaranteed on both.

By presenting more differences, the Note 12 Pro opens the scoreboard.

The realme comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, which is slightly larger than the Redmi’s 6.67-inch OLED. The 10 Pro Plus display has a 10-bit standard, which allows it to reproduce more than a billion colors, to balance the display with the Note 12 Pro. Both also offer an above-average level of brightness.

Both provide Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, which guarantees high fluidity in animations and compatible games. Speaking of games, realme’s touch sensor responds at 360 Hz, for a lower latency than Redmi’s 240 Hz response.

In turn, the Xiaomi model is the only one to support Dolby Vision in streaming, apart from the HDR10+ present in both. It also provides Gorilla Glass 5 as additional protection once morest scratches.

A better panel for gaming; the other pays more attention to streaming services. We give one point for each here.

These manufacturers did not skimp on audio and equipped a stereo system in these mid-range devices. Both cell phones use the call speaker as a secondary channel and also contain a third sound output at the top, to expand the user’s immersive experience.

The result is good sound power on both sides, as well as a good balance between bass, midrange and treble. Even so, you will still have higher quality on the Redmi set than on the realme.

None of the companies send headphones in the package, however the Note 12 Pro has a physical connector to plug in any standard accessory.

Thus, Xiaomi takes note of the point in sound.

Realme comes out of the box with native Android 13, while Redmi only comes with version 12 of the “little robot” from the factory. Even if Xiaomi guarantees at least Android 14, it still won’t reach the longevity of three software updates guaranteed by its rival.

Both Realme UI and MIUI flow well and are driven by the 120 Hz refresh rate. The mobile network will also not disappoint in speed, due to its compatibility with 5G technology.

Moving on to the features, both interfaces offer several customization options. The 10 Pro Plus stands out for its Always-on Display and shortcuts when touching the biometric reader. The Note 12 Pro has Sidebar shortcuts and the gaming tool as its main features.

Realme’s longer lifespan gives it the point.

Performance

The 10 Pro Plus comes equipped with the Dimensity 920 platform, compared to the Dimensity 1080 that powers the Note 12 Pro. Even though our tests did not show a large distance between them when opening apps, the presence of 12 GB of RAM on the realme, double the 6 GB on the Redmi variant we tried. The result was a total time 30 seconds lower than realme.

Benchmarks confirm the superiority of the 10 Pro Plus. It recorded around 21% more total AnTuTu score than its competitor. The most complex games run well on both, but Call of Duty limits some extras on them.

Realme takes the point for its superior performance.

The duo is on the list of several devices at the moment that have a 5,000 mAh battery. Same capacity, same duration? It’s not quite like that. Our standardized tests indicated an advantage of one hour for Redmi in its total autonomy.

When we move on to recharging, both Xiaomi and realme are accompanied by a 67 W plug adapter. Here, the similarity in the power of the accessory also translates into practice. Both take exactly the same 59 minutes to complete the process.

The Note 12 Pro scores for its greater autonomy.

On both sides, we find a photographic set made up of three rear cameras. The realme contains a 108 MP primary, while the Redmi has a 50 MP primary. The trio of two is completed with similar configurations. We’re talking regarding an 8 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP macro.

Both take photos with good contrast and sharpness, as well as efficient noise control in well-lit places. Only the HDR that fails in the duo. However, realme’s most advanced sensor allows for an image at maximum resolution with more details than Xiaomi’s, as well as a night mode that doesn’t lose much sharpness.

Their ultrawide gets the colors right and makes good captures during the day, even if they come out less sharp. The macro of the two is the weakest of the set and suffers from the lack of autofocus and low resolution.

In details, the point goes to the 10 Pro Plus.

These devices were officially launched in Brazil. The realme 10 Pro Plus arrived in the country for a suggested price of R$4,000, a little more expensive than the R$3,400 charged for the Redmi Note 12 Pro. In the current market, the difference remains, and the Xiaomi model is the only one in the double that can be found for values below the R$2,000 range.

Therefore, Redmi is left with the final point of the confrontation.

Finished

In this dispute between Chinese companies in the intermediary category, Xiaomi got the better of realme, but without a big gap on the scoreboard. The Redmi Note 12 Pro has the most premium construction and is resistant to dust and splashes; the display with Dolby Vision and scratch protection; the highest quality sound; and battery life with better autonomy.

On the other side, there is the realme 10 Pro Plus with its larger screen and faster touch sensor; the system with the greatest longevity; and superior multitasking performance. In cameras, there’s a good balance between them, with each better in a given situation.

What weighs in favor of Redmi is that, in addition to delivering more benefits, it can also be found for a lower price in the Brazilian market. In other words, it is a more complete cell phone that hurts the consumer’s pocket less.
