The Redmi A3 went on sale in Brazil this Friday (22). Xiaomi’s basic cell phone hits the national market with a new design “inspired” by the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and small improvements that should guarantee advantages compared to the Redmi A2, also serving as a simpler and cheaper option than the Redmi Note 13 4G.
The smartphone is equipped with a larger screen, now 6.7 inches, but maintaining IPS LCD technology and HD+ resolution (1,650 x 720 pixels), but increasing its refresh rate to 90 Hz, ensuring a more fluid experience. The display is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and has a teardrop notch for the 5 MP front camera.
On the back, which has a glass or leather texture finish, there is a large circle-shaped module that houses its main camera of just 8 MP, supporting video recording in Full HD @ 30 FPS. The lens is accompanied by a 0.08 MP auxiliary sensor.
The Redmi A3 is equipped with the same platform as its predecessor, MediaTek Helio G36, which has an 8-core CPU operating at a clock speed of up to 2.2 GHz, in addition to a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The cell phone debuts on the Brazilian market with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage expandable with a MicroSD card of up to 1 TB.
The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and supports charging with power of up to 10 W. Other specifications include support for dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 and a fingerprint reader on the side.
The device will come out of the box running Android 14. According to Xiaomi, the cell phone is eligible for two Android updates and three years of patches of security.
The Redmi A3 is now available in online retail stores for R$999. Currently, the only color option available is Blue. For now, there is no scheduled release date for the other versions — black and green — in Brazil.
