One of the artists participating in this autumn’s “So much better” is Simon Superti. He is one of this year’s hosts and, together with Louise Lennartsson and Dregen, will be there throughout the season.
Simon Superti has been involved in music for many years, even if in this year’s So much better line-up he is one of the lesser known to the popular masses.
In the season premiere, Simon tells us that he has lived a rather colorful life.
– I have never wanted to do anything stupid. I have ended up in places for different reasons and I have atoned for it, both internally and by society in different ways. I try to forgive myself, you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself, he says.
Simon Superti was sentenced to one year in prison
A couple of years ago, Simon was sentenced to a year in prison.
– Many of my friends were quite violent and sold drugs. One day I was sitting in a car and the police stopped us. I was sitting in the back seat, in the middle was a bag. There were things in that bag that we shouldn’t have. It wasn’t my bag, but when they took us in, they only detained me, says Simon.
– Then my lawyer said “either you go to this or you go and one more”. Then I chose to say it was me. I got a year in prison, he continues.
Simon was 24 years old when he came out.
– I usually call it my rag. I wasn’t a criminal, I always wanted to make music.
Made music while he was inside
And that’s what he did in prison, making music.
– I had a guy who moved into my cell. He came in with four strings on his guitar. We made songs, we made a whole record, says Simon.
– My friend Joel Hjälte sat and mixed on the outside.
When he got out again, he left the old life behind.
– Then I came out and I had opened my mind and was allowed to be myself. When I came out they were treading water and still arm in arm. I said “I’m pulling” and that saved me, says Simon.
