- 1 – What are the key objectives of the “For a New Grenelle of Health” collective in transforming the French healthcare system?
Dr Adrian Chaboche: First of all, there is a desire to bring together, in a transversal, transdisciplinary and civic manner, stakeholders in the health system around the same issue, that ofimprove human presence in care to address the deterioration of caregiver-patient relationships. There is an urgent need to rethink this link in order to coping with patients’ suffering and to Dismay of caregivers.
The collective therefore brings together liberal and hospital health professionals, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, representatives of patient associations, healthcare users, legal professionals, caregiver groups, paramedics, etc. It is only through the convergence of skills that we will be able to propose something concrete.
We started from the observation that Nothing emerges from a sick health system. And how can we undertake fundamental reform when we change the Minister of Health every year? sector is moving towards low-cost and is held up thanks to the priestly investment of those involved in care. But for how long? A context that leads patients to give up care for economic reasons, but also because they no longer feel listened to.
Everyone is a loser and the cost to society is considerable. Our collective wants to unite and show, through its thoughts and actions, that other approaches to care can exist.
The collective is organizing a new agora entitled “Towards a citizen pact for health”. Several initiatives will be presented, including a label of good treatment. What is it about?
Dr AC: Patients may find themselves facing abuse when medical or paramedical professionals, short of resources in the face of certain pathologies, respond to them “It’s in your head”. But it is possible to work in a quality patient-caregiver link. There is the scientific point of view and the know-how of health professionals. This should not prevent us from listening to the patient and considering what they bring to this relationship. This is the idea that we are carrying with the collective. But we do not want to stop at grand speeches. Hence the creation of a label which concretely reflects our vision of care and the patient-caregiver relationship.
By working with professional and territorial health communities (CPTS), private and hospital caregivers, we have identified a certain number of criteria such as cleanliness, accessibility of care, the posture of the practitioner, their ability to listen, clinical examination, etc. This label can be a gateway to assess the relationship. It must be seen as a tool that allows us to move forward collectively and that can also serve as a training basis to improve the quality of care. Working on the well-being of the patient also means acting on that of caregivers. The collective is not there to give lessons or stigmatize health professionals, but rather to try to innovate, in a concrete way.
Precisely, among the reflections that animate the collective, some are already at work. You have created a medical center in Paris based on an integrative approach. It is part of the initiatives that give substance to this new approach that you are calling for. What does it consist of?
Dr AC: This multidisciplinary and complementary center is a place of care open to all, which has around ten consultation offices. The health project is based on a global approach to patient health. There is both a general medicine approach with an opening on primary care and support including physical, psychological and social dimensions.
The team of medical and paramedical health professionals works in conjunction and in coordination with psychologists and professionals in complementary practices such as hypnotherapists, acupuncturists, osteopaths, etc.
We have three main patient flows: those who come for primary care. Some come looking for an integrative and transdisciplinary approach to health problems that cannot be addressed in the current health system. Finally, there are patients who come for prevention and to learn more about their health.
Coming back to the meeting on September 25 in Lyon, what do you expect from this second agora?
Dr AC: We want to attract the attention of the media to show that discussions are being conducted and that concrete avenues for the development of our health system are possible. This agora is also and above all a meeting place with dedicated professionals and patients. It is a networking place where we can brainstorm collectively to restore hope and show that we are capable of doing things that work. The strength of the collective must allow us to transform the test.

– What are the key objectives of the “For a New Grenelle of Health” collective in transforming the French healthcare system?
Revolutionizing Healthcare: The Collective “For a New Grenelle of Health” Paves the Way for a Citizen-Led Approach
The French healthcare system is facing unprecedented challenges, from deteriorating caregiver-patient relationships to the increasing cost of healthcare. Amidst these difficulties, a collective of healthcare professionals, patients, and advocates has come together to propose a radical shift in the way healthcare is delivered in France. The collective, “For a New Grenelle of Health,” aims to put the patient at the center of care, fostering a more human-centered approach to healthcare.
A Year of Collaboration and Innovation
Founded in 2023, the collective brings together healthcare professionals from all walks of life, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, patient associations, and caregivers. The group’s primary objective is to improve human presence in care, addressing the growing dissatisfaction among patients and caregivers alike. By convergence of skills and expertise, the collective seeks to propose concrete solutions to the healthcare crisis.
The Need for a New Approach
The current healthcare system is plagued by issues such as low-cost healthcare, high turnover rates among healthcare professionals, and patients feeling unheard. The collective’s founder, Dr. Adrian Chaboche, emphasizes that the healthcare system is “moving towards low-cost” and relies heavily on the dedication of healthcare professionals, which is unsustainable in the long run. The cost to society is substantial, with patients often giving up care due to economic reasons or feeling neglected.
The Citizen Pact for Health
The collective’s second citizen agora, scheduled for September 25, will focus on the citizen pact for health and the label of good treatment. The label aims to promote a quality patient-caregiver relationship, where patients are listened to and respected. The criteria for the label include cleanliness, accessibility of care, the practitioner’s posture, and their ability to listen, among others. This innovative approach seeks to improve the quality of care and provide a training basis for healthcare professionals.
The Integrative Medical Center: A Concrete Example
Dr. Chaboche’s medical center in Paris is a tangible expression of the collective’s vision. This multidisciplinary and complementary center offers a global approach to patient health, incorporating primary care, support, and complementary practices such as hypnotherapy, acupuncture, and osteopathy. The center’s team of healthcare professionals works in conjunction to provide comprehensive care, focusing on prevention, primary care, and integrative approaches to health problems.
The Upcoming Agora: A Call to Action
The upcoming agora on September 25 aims to attract media attention, highlighting the concrete initiatives and discussions taking place within the collective. Dr. Chaboche hopes that this event will showcase the possibilities of a citizen-led approach to healthcare, paving the way for a more sustainable and human-centered healthcare system in France.
